Formalin

Eine 37% wässrige Lösung von Formaldehyd. Formaldehyd, der Name leitet sich von der Ameise ab, ist giftig, und in dem entsprechenden Gas/Luft-Gemisch hochexplosiv. Reines Formaldehyd ist Gasförmig. Es negt zur Polimerisation.

Formaldehyd heißt Aldehyd der Ameisensäure. der IUPAC-Name ist Methanal, das Aldehyd des Methans beziehugsweise des Methanols.
